When the owner of this blue Porsche 911 GT3 picked up the car, he wanted to protect it immediately. The car had already received paint protection film through dealership-arranged work, but the fit and finish did not meet his expectations. Instead of accepting a result he was not confident in, he brought the GT3 straight to Garage Customs FL for a complete Porsche GT3 PPF reset in Miami.

Our team removed the previous film, carefully inspected and prepared the paint, and installed full-body STEK paint protection film. We then added STEK ceramic protection over the film, ceramic protection inside the cabin and on the wheels, plus a second sacrificial PPF layer on the rear-quarter impact zones.

Why This Porsche 911 GT3 Came Straight From the Dealership

A new high-performance car should begin its life with protection that looks intentional. On this GT3, the owner was dissatisfied with the existing dealership-installed film and asked us to remove it and do the installation the right way. We do not need to identify or criticize the previous installer to explain the issue: the owner simply wanted a cleaner, more complete result from a shop focused on premium paint protection.

Removal is a critical part of a replacement project. The old PPF must come off in a controlled manner before the underlying finish can be evaluated. Once it was removed, we prepared the vehicle for a fresh installation rather than covering over film or sealing an unwanted result beneath another product.

Full-Body STEK PPF for Miami and South Florida Driving

For a Porsche 911 GT3, partial front-end coverage leaves many expensive painted surfaces exposed. This owner chose full-body STEK PPF so the protection strategy extended beyond the bumper and hood to the fenders, doors, rocker areas, rear quarters, roof, mirrors, rear bumper and the GT3’s sculpted bodywork.

Paint protection film is the physical impact layer in this package. It helps defend the finish from common road debris, bug residue and the light surface contact that can occur during regular use and washing. Just as important, a premium installation should preserve the color, reflections and sharp body lines that make the car special.

Why We Added a Second PPF Layer to the Rear Quarters

The wide rear quarters of a 911 GT3 sit in a high-impact path. Debris can be thrown toward the flared rear bodywork, especially around the lower rear-quarter and factory-style stone-guard area. Because the entire body was already protected, we added a smaller second layer of PPF over these targeted zones.

This added piece works as a replaceable sacrificial layer over the base full-body film. It gives the highest-impact area another serviceable surface without changing the appearance of the complete installation. We describe it as targeted reinforcement—not as a guarantee against every impact and not as a substitute for proper driving and maintenance.

STEK Ceramic Coating Over the Paint Protection Film

After the full-body PPF installation, we applied STEK ceramic protection to the exterior. The coating helps the film stay slick, glossy and easier to maintain by improving water behavior and reducing how stubbornly normal grime clings to the surface.

Ceramic coating and PPF perform different jobs. PPF provides the physical film layer that helps absorb everyday impact and abrasion. Ceramic protection enhances the surface behavior and simplifies routine care. Combining both gives this GT3 a more complete protection system than relying on either product alone.

Ceramic Protection for the Interior and Wheels

The protection plan continued beyond the painted body. We treated the appropriate interior surfaces to help make the cabin easier to maintain while preserving the GT3’s special details, including its Weissach seat embroidery, blue accents, carbon-fiber trim and manual center console.

The wheels also received ceramic protection. Performance cars generate brake dust, and a coated wheel surface is generally easier to clean during regular maintenance. The coating does not eliminate brake dust or normal wear, but it helps make future care more manageable and completes the vehicle-wide protection package.

The Finished Result: A Properly Protected GT3

The final result is a blue Porsche 911 GT3 that now has one coordinated protection system: full-body STEK PPF, added sacrificial film on the rear-quarter impact zones, STEK ceramic protection over the exterior, interior ceramic protection and ceramic-coated wheels. The installation preserves the gloss and visual drama of the car while preparing it for real use on Miami and South Florida roads.

Porsche GT3 PPF Frequently Asked Questions

Is full-body PPF worth it on a Porsche 911 GT3?

Full-body PPF is a strong option for an owner who wants consistent protection across the entire painted exterior rather than only the front bumper, hood and fenders. It is especially useful on a GT3 that will be driven, because the wide body, low ride height and valuable finish can be exposed to debris in multiple areas.

Can poorly installed dealership PPF be removed and replaced?

Yes. Existing film can be removed and replaced when the owner is unhappy with its appearance, coverage or condition. The safest plan is to evaluate the film and paint first, remove the old material carefully, prepare the surface and install the replacement PPF on a clean foundation.

Why add a second PPF layer to the rear quarters?

The rear-quarter impact zones on a wide-body 911 can receive concentrated debris. A smaller second layer can serve as a replaceable sacrificial piece over the base full-body film. It is targeted reinforcement for a specific risk area, not a claim that the panel becomes immune to every rock chip.

Does ceramic coating replace paint protection film?

No. Ceramic coating improves gloss, water behavior and ease of cleaning, but it is not the same type of physical impact layer as PPF. On this project, STEK ceramic protection was applied after the full-body film so the two products could perform their separate roles.

Can Porsche wheels and interior surfaces be ceramic coated?

Yes, when the products and preparation are appropriate for the surfaces being treated. Interior ceramic protection can help with routine upkeep, while wheel ceramic protection can make brake-dust cleaning more manageable. Product choice and maintenance expectations should always match the specific materials on the vehicle.
